NEW FOR 2011 WOMENS ONLY & SENIOR GOLF SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Our Shadow Mountain golf school location is geared towards our Ladies Only Golf Schools as well as our senior golf schools students. Shadow Mountain Golf Club and Resort was one of the first resorts built in the Palm Desert area.
Historic Shadow Mountain Golf Course was designed by the famed and legendary golfer, Gene Sarazen. It was the first golf course in Palm Desert when it opened in March 1958. Once affiliated with the adjacent Shadow Mountain Tennis Resort it is now privately owned and run
by its equity members. Shadow Mountain was a dream of Mon Walgren, the retired Governor of the State of Washington. Through his and others efforts, the dream became a reality. They founded a challenging par 70 course, one of the few in the desert that can still be walked.
Gene Sarazen envisioned Shadow Mountain to be the design of the future: built to test but not overtax golfers. It has challenges for golfers of all abilities and rewards golfers who shape their shots and use their head more than their driver. With over 700 mature palm trees, the fairways are well defined and the small greens are protected by well placed glistening white sand bunkers. Tucked in at the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains, Shadow Mountain is well protected from the winds that plague many desert courses.
Shadow Mountain Resort & Club ® is a charming resort nestled in the heart of Palm Desert. This condominium resort has the feel of a private retreat with breathtaking views of the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains. Yet it’s just a leisurely stroll from El Paseo, a mile-long boulevard of upscale shops, art galleries and international restaurants in the center of this vibrant small city.
Located in south Palm Desert, California, the private club (approximately six acres) offers the signature figure-8 swimming pool (360,000 gallons of water), one of the largest in the desert; a large whirlpool spa; men’s & ladies saunas and fitness studio; and sixteen tennis courts (including six lighted courts, and three clay), home to the highly acclaimed Desert Tennis Academy. Other amenities include the registration lobby and meeting space; and great dining choices including the Top of the Courts Café and Corner Bar & Grill for courtside and poolside cocktails and food fare.
Neighboring Shadow Mountain Resort & Club ® is the 18-hole Shadow Mountain Golf Club, a private member equity club. Resort guests may play the course by arranging tee-times through the resort front desk staff.
